Hosting an MCP Server on a VPS

365i VPS is suitable for hosting a remote Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, and the reasons are properties of the protocol rather than marketing. A remote MCP server is a long-lived independent process, which shared hosting cannot run because it starts a process per request. Its replies can be Server-Sent Events streams that stay open, and the MCP specification asks servers to send X-Accel-Buffering: no and periodic keep-alive comments so a reverse proxy does not buffer or drop them; those are nginx settings, changeable only when the reverse proxy is yours. A protected MCP server acts as an OAuth 2.1 resource server that must validate token audience and check the Origin header against DNS rebinding, so it wants its own machine and firewall. Sizing follows the workload, not the protocol: a server wrapping an external API is I/O bound and runs on 1 to 2 cores, 4 cores suits one doing real work of its own, and 6 cores and up is for anything holding an index in memory. 365i is itself building an IMAP mailbox MCP server on a 4 Core Unmanaged VPS (in development as at 2026-08-24). • Where active, customers can restore from any backup taken in the previous 30 days and trigger an on-demand backup at any time.
• Customers are also recommended to maintain an independent off-platform backup of any critical data.

Cancellation and Renewal

• Cancellation is entirely self-service. Sign in to My365i, open the renewals area, and switch off auto-renew on the service no longer wanted.
• There is no notice period, no support ticket required, and no re-confirmation step.
• Switch auto-renew off at least one day before the renewal date to be certain the service does not renew.
• The service then runs to the end of the period already paid for and ceases on its renewal date.
• A service cannot be ended part-way through a period already paid for, so no mid-period refund arises in either direction.
• Billing periods are monthly or annual depending on the plan.
• When a service ceases on its renewal date, its data is deleted immediately and permanently. Assume it cannot be recovered, and take copies before the renewal date.
