What is a .limo domain?
The .limo domain is made for limousine hire companies, luxury chauffeur services, and executive transport providers. A .limo address signals premium service before a visitor even reaches your homepage. It's short enough for the side of a vehicle and classy enough for a wedding invitation.

How a .limo domain reads to a British customer
The word does more work than the extension here, and in Britain it does not always work in your favour. Limo is an American shortening that arrived with stretch Lincolns and prom nights, and at the top of the UK market the vocabulary is different: chauffeur, executive travel, wedding cars. A firm quoting for an airport transfer in a Mercedes S-Class rarely calls itself a limo company, and the address you choose is part of how you sound before anyone reads a word of your copy.
None of which argues against .limo for the business it actually suits. Binky Moon delegated it on 12 December 2013, it is open to anyone with no operator licence checked, and for prom hire, hen and stag transport and party buses the word is exactly right. It is short, it fits on a vehicle, and it names the vehicle.
Price is the harder part. £46.49 a year against £9.99 for a .co.uk means the extension costs roughly what a decent run of business cards costs, every single year. In a seasonal trade, that renewal arrives whether the diary was full or empty.
Is .limo the right choice for you?
We would rather sell you the right extension once than the wrong one twice.
.limo works well if
- Your market is prom nights, hen and stag hire or party transport, where limo is the word the customer already uses without prompting.
- The address is going on the vehicle. Four characters after the dot can be read at a distance in a way a long .co.uk cannot.
- You want a category address to advertise one seasonal service, pointed at a page on your main site.
Look elsewhere if
- You sell at the executive end. Corporate travel buyers book chauffeurs, not limos, and the extension sets a tone you then have to argue your way out of.
- Your bookings come from local search. Limousine hire is a town-by-town trade, and Google reads .co.uk as a UK signal where .limo counts as generic.
- Cost. £46.49 a year is close to five times a .co.uk, on a business whose income arrives in a handful of busy months.
Chasing local bookings across one or two counties? A .co.uk is a fifth of the price and reads as British. See .co.uk pricing.
.limo vs .cab: which should you register?
Two vehicle extensions, two rather different price tags: .cab is £30.99 a year here and .limo is £46.49. They also sit at opposite ends of the same trade, so the choice is usually made for you by what you actually drive.
.cab suits volume work, short journeys and a firm that wants to be the obvious local answer. .limo suits occasion work, where the vehicle is the reason for the booking rather than a way of getting somewhere. Plenty of operators do both, and for them the honest answer is that neither extension covers the pair. A .co.uk with two well-written pages will serve that business better than either.
.limo domain questions, answered
What people ask us before registering a .limo domain.
Can't find what you're looking for?
Ask us directlyNo. The extension is open with no licence check, no trade body membership and no local presence requirement, so the registry will sell one to anybody. In the UK, though, carrying paying passengers is licensed by your local authority, and a customer comparing quotes cares far more about that than about your web address. Put the licensing authority and the licence number on the site. The domain is branding; the licence is what makes the booking legal and the insurance valid.
Probably not, if chauffeur is the word you use with clients. The British executive market talks about chauffeur services, executive travel and wedding cars, while limo carries associations with proms, stretch vehicles and nights out. Neither is better, but they sell to different people, and the extension announces which one you are before the page loads. If you serve corporate accounts, a .co.uk with your company name is the safer address, and you can still register the .limo for the occasion side of the business.
Because the registry prices it as a niche category name rather than as a mass-market extension. A .limo is £46.49 a year here against £9.99 for a .co.uk, which is a difference of roughly £370 across a decade of trading. Nothing technical justifies it: the DNS, the DNSSEC support and the record types are identical. You are paying for the word. That can be a fair trade for a business whose marketing runs on vehicle livery and printed adverts, and poor value for one that quietly takes bookings by phone.
