The two meanings of .network pull against each other
The word does two jobs and they compete. To one reader .network means cables, switches and connectivity. To another it means people who know people: a franchise group, a referral club, a professional association, a set of practices under one banner. Identity Digital's acceptable use policy reserves the right to suspend or cancel a registration where a registrant fails to keep registration information accurate or up to date. Group and franchise domains tend to be registered in the name of whoever set them up, and that person moves on. Put the domain in the organisation's name, use a role address rather than a personal one, and check it when people leave.

.network vs .group: which should you register?
Multi-site organisations shortlist these two together and they say different things about the relationship between the parts. A .group implies ownership and a structure, which suits a holding company, a multi-brand firm or a set of subsidiaries. A .network implies connection between members who stay independent, which suits franchises, referral bodies and associations.
Get that wrong and you invite the wrong questions. Independent members who see themselves as partners rather than branches will read a .group address as a takeover, and a wholly owned chain that calls itself a network can look looser than it is.
The .group is two characters shorter and £7 a year cheaper. That is worth something, but not enough to override which of the two words describes what you actually are.
