What a .vc domain really buys a fund
.vc belongs to Saint Vincent and the Grenadines and is administered by the country's Ministry of Telecommunications, Science, Technology and Industry, with Identity Digital running the registry infrastructure. Both are country codes borrowed by an industry with no connection to the country, and both cost several times a .co.uk for the association rather than for anything technical. .io reads technical: tools, APIs, infrastructure. .vc reads financial: funds, syndicates, portfolios.
Pick by who is reading. A developer audience decodes .io instantly and would find .vc odd. A founder pitching, an investor or a co-investor decodes .vc instantly and would read .io as a product rather than a firm. .io is the better known of the two and the more expensive here, and it comes with a live sovereignty question over its territory that .vc does not have.
