The arbitration clause every .org.pl holder signs
Poland's registry publishes something most do not: a rule about what you must do when somebody sues you. Under the .pl Domain Name Regulations, if a third party starts an action in the Arbitration Court claiming your domain infringes their rights, you must sign and return an arbitration clause within the time stated in the summons. Refuse, and NASK terminates the agreement three months later. The domain goes, whatever the merits of the claim.
That aside, .org.pl is one of the easier extensions to buy. It sits on NASK's published list of functional domains alongside .com.pl and .biz.pl, and the regulations set no residency, nationality or charitable-status test at all. They openly contemplate holders outside Poland, saying that disputes with a subscriber whose home or registered office sits outside the country go to the courts covering NASK's own seat in Warsaw.
The naming rules are ordinary. Latin letters, digits and hyphens, up to sixty-three characters before the extension, with Polish diacritics available as internationalised names. A short list of service words including www, ftp, http and mailto cannot be registered at all.
Is .org.pl the right choice for you?

.org.pl works well if
- You are a Polish foundation or association and want the address Polish supporters expect, rather than a .org that says nothing about where you work.
- You are a UK organisation opening a Polish-language site and want a local address without setting up a Polish entity first.
- You want Polish diacritics in the name. NASK supports them as internationalised domains, so the spelling can be the real one.
Look elsewhere if
- You and your audience are both outside Poland. A plain .org costs less here, reads the same way everywhere, and carries no country claim.
- You cannot keep the registry email address current. A .pl transfer only completes when the registrant clicks a link sent to the address NASK holds.
- You want a dispute heard in a court you know. Holding a .pl means signing an arbitration clause when a claim arrives, or losing the name three months later.

.org.pl vs .org: which should you register?
Both say non-commercial. Only one says Poland. The choice follows from where your supporters are rather than from anything technical, because NASK and the .org registry both run DNSSEC, both sell through the same kind of reseller channel, and both charge annually.
Where they really differ is the small print. A .org runs on ICANN policy that most registrars already handle for you. An .org.pl brings NASK's own regulations: the arbitration clause, a transfer that only completes when you click an emailed link, and an option service that lets a third party queue for three years on the chance you let the name drop. None of that is a reason to avoid it. All of it is a reason to keep your contact details current.

Ask us directlyNo. The .pl Domain Name Regulations set no residency, nationality or organisational test, and they deal expressly with subscribers whose home or registered office sits outside Poland by pointing disputes at the courts covering NASK's own seat in Warsaw. There is no charitable-status check on .org.pl either: it is one of NASK's functional domains, sold on the same terms as .com.pl. What you do need is a monitored email address on the registry record, because transfers depend on it.
It applies to every .pl domain, third level included. If a third party brings a claim against you in the Arbitration Court over your domain, the regulations require you to sign and return an arbitration clause within the period stated in the summons. If you do not, NASK terminates the agreement three months later and the domain is gone regardless of the merits. A ruling against you is separate grounds for immediate termination, with no notice period at all.
An .org.pl if your supporters are Polish, a .org if they are not. Google reads .pl as a Polish signal and reads .org as neutral, so the country ending helps in Google Poland in a way the generic one cannot. Against that, .org is cheaper here, needs no local knowledge to administer, and is what an international funder expects to see on a grant application. Holding both and redirecting one to the other is common and costs little.
