What is a .net.ph domain?

The .net.ph extension is the network subdomain within the Philippines' .ph namespace, managed by the PH Domain Foundation. The Philippines has a booming BPO and IT services industry, and .net.ph provides a tech-focused identity for companies operating in that space. With over 85 million internet users and one of the highest social media engagement rates globally, the Philippine digital market rewards an investment in local domain identity.

Who should register .net.ph?

Philippine ISPs, BPO companies, IT service providers, and technology firms targeting the Filipino market.

Why choose .net.ph?

  • Network-focused identity in the Philippines

Why .ph is the least transparent extension we sell

Start with what can be checked. IANA lists the manager of the .ph namespace as the PH Domain Foundation in Pasig, Metro Manila, with the administrative and technical contacts both at a DotPH address in Wanchai, Hong Kong. The delegation dates from 14 September 1990, so it has been in the root zone for well over thirty years. And the registry information block lists no WHOIS server at all, only a registration services URL.

That absence is not a clerical slip, it is the shape of the whole namespace. Most registries publish a policy page stating who may register, what the naming rules are, and what happens when your details turn out to be wrong. We went looking for the equivalent for .net.ph and could not reach one: the registry site sits behind a challenge that blocks automated access, and we will not write eligibility rules we have not read.

So treat the price as the headline fact. At over £100 a year this is the most expensive extension in this part of our range by a wide margin, and it is the one we can tell you least about. If you need one, ask us first and we will confirm the current position with the registry rather than guess at it.

The honest answer

Is .net.ph the right choice for you?

We would rather sell you the right extension once than the wrong one twice.

.net.ph works well if

  • You have a Philippine operation, a BPO arm or a local subsidiary, and the com.ph you wanted has already gone.
  • You are an ISP, data centre or network operator in the Philippines, and the zone name describes exactly what you do.
  • A Philippines signal in Google is the objective. .ph is a country code, so it carries one where a generic extension would not.

Look elsewhere if

  • The price. At over £100 a year this is far and away the most expensive extension on this page, and it renews at that level indefinitely.
  • The registry publishes very little you can check. IANA lists no WHOIS server for .ph, and we could not reach a policy page stating the registration rules.
  • Almost nobody outside the Philippines recognises net.ph, so it does nothing at all for a UK, US or European audience.

Not actually trading in the Philippines? Almost any other extension on this site will cost you less and be far easier to verify.

Head to head

.net.ph vs .com: which should you register?

This is a comparison about information as much as about price. A .com is the most documented extension in existence: the registry agreement, the pricing, the transfer rules and the dispute procedure are all published and enforceable. For .net.ph we could not reach a policy page at all.

None of that makes a .net.ph a bad domain. Country extensions carry a geographic signal a .com cannot, and to a Filipino customer that matters. It does mean the sensible order of purchase is the .com first, as the address you will still have in ten years, with the .net.ph added once the Philippine operation is real enough to justify the yearly cost. Ask us to check the current registry position before you order either way.

.net.ph domain questions, answered

What people ask us before registering a .net.ph domain.

Can't find what you're looking for?

Ask us directly

IANA lists no WHOIS server in its delegation record for .ph, which is unusual: most country codes publish one, and many now publish an RDAP endpoint alongside it. In practice the ordinary lookup tools return nothing useful for a .ph or a .net.ph, including our own WHOIS tool. If you need registration data on a specific .ph domain, the route is the registry itself rather than a public lookup service.

The PH Domain Foundation, based in Pasig, Metro Manila, is the manager recorded by IANA. The administrative and technical contacts on the same record are both at a DotPH address in Wanchai, Hong Kong, and the delegation dates from 14 September 1990. Because IANA maintains the root zone, its delegation record is the authoritative answer to who holds a namespace, and it is the one we check before any reseller summary.

The registry sets the wholesale price, and on the .ph family it sits well above what most country codes charge, so our retail price follows it. There is nothing technical behind the difference: the DNS, the record types and the resolution are identical to any other extension, so you are paying for access to the namespace and nothing else. Over five years the gap against a .com or a .co.uk is large, so be sure the Philippine audience is real first.
